Michael Burks Arkansas

A powerhouse, soaring guitarist and deeply soulful vocalist, Michael Burks began playing at age five and, as a teenager, led the house band at his family’s Arkansas juke joint. Bursting on the national scene in 2001, he quickly became a festival headliner. He earned his nickname for his hours-long, thrilling shows. He died of heart failure at 54, just after cutting his fourth Alligator album. ... more
